Technical (tec) diving means going beyond recreational SCUBA diving limits. But, tec divers will tell you that it’s really about the challenge and adventure of exploring places that no one else has ever seen. Tec diving is not for everyone, but it does attract experienced divers who want to go beyond their current limits and are willing to accept the added risks, training, investment and commitment it demands. If this is you, then PADI TecRec courses are your ticket to extreme adventure.
We offer a variety of PADI TecRec courses like Discover Technical Diving, PADI Tec 40 and PADI Tec 45 but also Tec CCR rebreather, Tec trimix and various Tec instructor courses.
In short those courses are about diving beyond 40 m/130 ft, stage decompressions, diving in overhead environments, accelerated decompressions, the use of variable gas mixtures during the dive and/or the use of extensive equipment and technologies.
What is Tec Diving?
Technical Diving allows you to extend your diving beyond recreational “no stop” limits. This allows you to plan longer dives at shallower depths, or to plan dives to more advanced depths and locations. Technical (tec) diving allows you to greatly expand your diving skills and knowledge and can provide you with experiences and exploration opportunities in places very few people will ever see:
- Increased Range – Exploring deeper than 40 metres/130 feet
- Increased Diving Environments – Diving in caves, shipwrecks or other special environments
- Increased Skills – Using specialized gas mixtures and decompression procedures
- Specialized Equipment – Using highly specialized equipment, like a closed or semi-closed circuit rebreather

- Discover Technical Diving
This short course is designed to let divers experience technical diving in confined water. Get introduced a few basic skills and procedures. Discover Tec may credit towards the Tec 40 course.
- Tec 40
Consists of three knowledge development sections, three practical application sessions and four training dives. Designed for the diver transitioning from recreational diving to technical diving.
- Tec 45
Part 2 of the PADI Tec Deep Diver program. Extend your depth limit to 45 metres/145 ft. Learn to plan & execute repetitive decompression dives using a single stage/decompression cylinder.
- Tec 50
Part 3 of the full PADI Tec Deep Diver program. Develop competency & have the skills to dive to a max of 50 metres/165 ft. Learn how to extend & accelerate decompression stops using up to 2 gases.
- Tec Sidemount
- Tec Sidemount Instructor
As a Tec Sidemount Instructor, you can teach the advantages of sidemount diving to tec divers or introduce scuba divers to tec diving with the Tec Sidemount Diver course.
- Tec Trimix Diver
This course turns experienced tec divers into extreme divers. During this course, you’ll make dives as deep as 90 metres/300 feet, use multigas trimix computers, & handle up to 4 stage/deco cylinders.
